Performance Coach Course

The Performance Coach (PC) course is designed to furnish coaches with the tools to navigate the complexities of performance environments, enabling them to thrive with pressure and drive sustained success. This course is an 18-month program delivered biennially, and has been created to foster personal growth, deepen self-awareness, and cultivate meaningful relationships that empowers coaches to apply their expertise with greater impact. It employs a range of approaches (outlined below) to educate, support, and develop the skills of participating coaches. As part of the applied learning phase (Item #3), coaches are required to complete six learning tasks, which are submitted as part of the Coaching Portfolio (Item #5).

  1. Interactive Workshop (face-to-face workshop)
  2. Collaborative learning circles (Online call, WhatsApp conversation threads, face-to-face check ins)
  3. Applied learning experiences (6 Learning tasks to complete)
  4. Learning activities review sessions (Online calls and/or face-to-face tutorials)
  5. Coaching Portfolio (Inclusive of Applied learning experiences #1-6)
  6. Crafting your case for a Head Coach position via a mock interview.

Entry Requirements:

The Performance Coach (PC) course is targeted for self-motivated coaches who are operating in adult performance related competitions within the NRL developmental pathway system.

  • To be accepted into the Performance Coach (PC) course, applicants must demonstrate they are currently coaching a team competing in the designated male or female competitions within the recognised rugby league development pathway (as per chart below).
  • To formally apply for the Performance Coach (PC) courses, please complete the application form via the link on this page.
  • Coaches appointed to a role within the designated pathway will be able to fulfil their coaching responsibilities while completing the relevant course concurrently.
  • An exemption process has also been introduced for coaches not currently involved in the specified competitions or programs, but who can present a strong rationale for their inclusion.
