The Youth Development Coach (YDC) Course is a 9-month program delivered annually and is aimed at inspiring coaches to continuously reflect on and refine their coaching approach to effectively support players development in competitive environments. Key milestones in the coach’s learning journey are outlined below.

Entry Requirements:
The Youth Development Coach (YDC) course is targeted for self-motivated coaches who are operating in youth (16-21 years old) performance related competitions within the NRL developmental pathway system.
- To be accepted into the Youth Development Coach (YDC) course, applicants must demonstrate they are currently coaching a team competing in the designated male or female competitions within the recognised rugby league development pathway (as per chart below).
- To formally apply for the Youth Development Coach (YDC) course, please complete the application form via the link on this page.
- Coaches appointed to a role within the designated pathway will be able to fulfil their coaching responsibilities while completing the relevant course concurrently.
- An exemption process has also been introduced for coaches not currently involved in the specified competitions or programs, but who can present a strong rationale for their inclusion.
