NRL Level 2 Sports Trainer Course

The NRL Level 2 Sports Trainer course is primarily designed for trainers working in performance competitions. It educate participants on more advanced techniques of taping, concussion and managing serious injury. 

This course is delivered using blended learning combining eLearning with face to face theoretical and practical tasks. Students are required to participate in all course elements, providing them with an opportunity to practice and refine their skills prior to assessment. 

The course structure involves simulated real-life scenarios which could appear in a Rugby League setting.

The NRL Level 2 Sports Trainer course covers the following units:

  • The role of the Level 2 Sports Trainer and their Legal Responsibilities 
  • Advanced Anatomy and Physiology
  • Head Injuries and Concussion
  • Elite Competitions Concussion Management 
  • Spinal Injury Management
  • The Unconscious Patient
  • Management of Common Injuries
  • Fuelling the Body for Performance (including Sport Integrity Australia's Level 1 Anti-Doping Course) 
  • Working with Others
  • Sports Massage
  • Advanced Taping Techniques
  • Activities for Injury Prevention and Recovery


Delivery and Duration

This course is delivered through a combination of online learning and face to face training. The eLearning is self-paced and the face to face training is 16 hours. Students will receive access to online learning once they have successfully paid and registered for the course. 

Pre-Requisites

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid completed in the past 2 years
  • HLTAID009 Provide CPR completed in the past 12 months
  • Current NRL Level 1 Sports Trainer qualification (or has been expired less than 12 months)

Qualifications

Upon successful completion of all course requirements, students will receive:

  • NRL Level 2 Sports Trainer Certificate
